Arlene Dickinson

Arlene Dickinson is CEO of Venture Communications Ltd. and a 20-year veteran in marketing communications.

After joining Venture as a partner in 1988, Arlene took over sole ownership in 1998. Her vision has driven Venture's growth, successfully building it from a local firm into one of Canada's largest independent marketing firms, with offices in Calgary, Toronto and Ottawa.

Arlene believes strongly that marketing's purpose is to deliver business results. She is well known for pioneering how marketing can be accountable to delivering on clients' business goals.

Her accomplishments, vision and leadership have been recognized with several honours and awards. They include: Global Television Woman of Vision; PROFIT and Chatelaine magazine's TOP 100 Women Business Owners; the Pinnacle Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence; Canada's Most Powerful Women Top 100 Hall of Fame; Ad Rodeo's Lifetime Achievement Award; and McGill University's 2008 Management Achievement Award. Perhaps the greatest honour was recognition of Venture as one of Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies for three consecutive years.

In addition to her busy roles as CEO of Venture, mother of four children and grandmother of two, Arlene finds time to lend her skills and leadership to benefit the industry and the community. She served for many years and in various board roles - including chair - with Ad Rodeo and is past co-chair of the National Board for Kids Help Phone. She is a director of the Calgary Municipal Lands Corporation, 2016 Homeless Foundation and a member of the International Women's Federation (IWF)

Since October 2007, she has appeared as one of the "Dragons" on CBC's Dragons' Den - a national television series which invites people to pitch business ideas to the Dragons, in an effort to persuade them to invest.

Richard Kunz

Richard Kunz leads T4G's travel and hospitality consulting practice and provides management consulting for corporate strategies, multi-channel distribution, eCommerce strategies & solutions, reservation systems and marketing programs.

Prior to joining T4G Mr. Kunz was the Vice President of Advance Sales Technology at Intrawest, one of the world's biggest resort operators, where he was responsible for the development and support of the company's reservation systems, and eCommerce platform.

Mr. Kunz has twenty five years of experience as a consultant and senior executive for leading travel and hospitality firms around the world in areas such as IT, marketing, sales, strategic planning and supply chain optimization. His skills span most travel industry verticals including retail and wholesale travel, hospitality firms, cruise lines, airlines, technology providers and global distribution systems.

Mr. Kunz's accomplishments include the development of various IT solutions involving central reservation systems (CRSs), global distribution systems (GDSs), eCommerce solutions, as well as tour, hotel and fares distribution systems. On the business side his background includes the authorship and implementation of an array of corporate strategies and marketing programs.

Having been involved with travel eCommerce for over ten years Mr. Kunz was a pioneer in dynamic packaging and most recently he is focused on defining strategies for clients around the latest trends such as Web 2.0, multi-channel supply chain optimization, experiential travel solutions and catalogue-driven shopping.

Mr. Kunz has been a guest lecturer in the past at Humber College, Toronto, Canada, and with Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. He holds a MA-Marketing from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management.

William Bakker

David Pavelko

David Pavelko is Google's Head of Travel for the Eastern Region. He manages marketing and advertising campaigns for airlines, hotel chains, cruise lines, car rental companies, tourism groups, OTA's, metasearch, and travel publishers across Google's Search, Display, YouTube and TV advertising platforms.

Prior to joining Google, David spent six years at Cendant Corporation, where he was Vice President of Business Development; in this position, he was responsible for developing and managing marketing programs for Fortune 500 organizations for the purposes of leveraging Cendant's travel (Orbitz, CheapTickets, Galileo), hospitality (Ramada Inn, Days Inn, Super 8), car rental (Avis/Budget), real estate, and financial services distribution channels. David also spent time at Choice Hotels in a similar business development capacity as well as a few years in the sports marketing industry. David is a graduate of Princeton University.

Carol Alderdice

Carol Alderdice is Manager, Web Technology for New Brunswick's Department of Tourism and Parks. She was hired by the Department in December 2004 to identify and resolve issues related to the tourism website and to set up a unit that now provides web, report and online services to the three main branches within Department as well as to Industry and the Operators across the province.

Carol has a varied background in marketing and communications with a little information technology added to the mix. She worked at Nortel Networks, Headquartered in Brampton, Ontario for 20 years in a variety of corporate and senior marketing positions. For the last 10 years at Nortel Networks, Carol was Senior Manager, 9-1-1 Solutions, responsible for Sales, Product Line Management, Marketing, and Implementation of Nortel's 9-1-1 desktop product across North America.

David Alston

Jim Brody

Darryl Jang

During the latter part of his tenure, Darryl supported PayPal's expansion into the airline industry, assisting Northwest Airlines, Southwest Airlines, US Airways, Jetblue, and Delta to integrate PayPal payments into their sales platform.

Before that, Darryl was a senior software engineer for CyberSource Corporation, a provider of electronic payment and risk management solutions. Stephen A. Joyce has been working as a travel & tourism technology consultant since 1995. In 2005 Stephen and his company, Sentias Software Corp., began development on Rezgo.com, a next generation Web 2.0 tour and activity booking engine for tour and activity providers.

Patrick Payne

Patrick is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of QuickMobile, and has more than 30 years experience as a pioneer in emerging technologies.

Prior to QuickMobile, Patrick was founder and CEO of Mobile Operandi Communication which developed the "Mophone" mobile consumer social networking service before being sold to Vantage Point Venture Partners in 2006. Previous to this, he spent 5 years at Ericsson as Director of Mobile Internet based in Brussels, Belgium where he was responsible for divisional sales, business development, mobile strategy, and external partnering. In 1989, Patrick co-founded Vancouver-based Memex Software which developed a digital TV management platform for global satellite broadcast systems. While working at Distinctive Software during the late-80's (now Electronic Arts Canada), Patrick scored the original music for the video game Test Drive - which eventually grew into the world's best selling racing game franchise.

For six years Patrick served as a director of the Wireless Innovation Network of BC (WINBC) and is currently a founding director of Wavefront AC an organization that assists mobile businesses with commercial acceleration and helps foster collaboration amongst early-stage wireless companies in Canada. He holds a BA from the University of British Columbia with a double major in Film & Television and Music.

Edward Perry

With over 20 years of industry exposure, Edward Perry has been with WORLDHOTELS for over eight years. During his tenure at WORLDHOTELS, he began in the corporate sales division, managing sales for the Northeastern USA. His most current appointment is as Senior Director of E-Commerce. In this position, Edward manages strategic alliances in the Americas and Asia between online booking and technology partners and WORLDHOTELS' portfolio of close to 500 properties worldwide.

Prior to his work at WORLDHOTELS, Edward took on a variety of industry positions in sales and marketing at various hotel levels, including in the area of corporate housing. His most recent position prior to WORLDHOTELS was the role as travel manager for Macy's West in San Francisco where he oversaw an air budget of ten million as well as the company's corporate credit card, hotel, car and calling card programs. He was instrumental in the roll-out of Macy's West's first online travel booking engine.

Edward has a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and German from Schiller International University in Heidelberg, Germany and a MBA in Global Business Management from the University of Phoenix. He currently sits on the Board of HEDNA and is a Destination Educational Leader for Online Revealed and Co-Chair of Online Revealed Caribbean.

Carson Pierce

Since beginning his professional website development career seven years ago, Carson has been involved in nearly every facet of the industry; from marketing to design to coding. By 2004, he realized that he just wasn't that good of a designer and teamed up with someone who was to form Idea Market Design. Within a few years, a second company - Point B Marketing - was created to focus in on the needs of the marketing and design needs of the tourism industry.

While Carson still ends up doing a bit of everything, his day-to-day role now is Project Manager. His breadth of experience helps him understand each stage of the website development process... and get them done.

Carson has a BComm in Marketing, parents two small children and has won his fantasy hockey league two years in a row.

Tom Price

Tom graduated from Carleton University in Ottawa in 1980, and completed addition studies in Urban Planning, Tourism and Business at both Ottawa and Ryerson Universities. Tom has enjoyed a twenty-year plus career in Hospitality Marketing working for such brands as Fairmont, Marriott, and Starwood as well as spending time in his own consulting practice called "Web Communication". Most recently he was Director of Sales and Marketing overseeing the meeting and convention division of Ottawa Tourism. While at Ottawa Tourism he invented a web based meeting-planning application called MeetingsEasy™ winning "Innovator of the Year" from the Tourism Industry Association of Canada.

Tom speaks regularly at conferences on web marketing and green/sustainability action plans and is an activate member of industry associations.

Edward Radonic is the Managing Partner of RadonicRodgers Communications Inc. Edward, has led RadonicRodgers into the Travel Marketing Specialty, and was marketing leader for marketing programs and campaigns for various travel sectors such as Destinations, Attractions, Hotels & Resorts, Tour Operators, Travel Agents and Airlines. Some of these organizations include; OMCA, WestJet Vacations, Globus Family of Brands, Tourisim Ireland, Tourisim Spain, Renaissance & Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Ensemble Travel and Thomas Cook Travel just to name a few. Edward is also a member of the SK.L International Club of Toronto for Travel Professionals. Edward's career in the marketing industry started 20 years ago with a firm that he owned and subsequently sold prior to founding RadonicRodgers. Presently, at the age of 38 he has earned accolades attributed to his entrepreneurship, founded 6 firms, navigated multiple mergers, acquisitions and sales of companies. Brian C. Silengo

In his role at TIG Global, Mr. Silengo manages the company's regional business-development team, a position that involves overseeing sales of the company's best-of-breed services and cutting-edge technology. He has played an integral part in relationship development with brands and independent hotels alike, with an emphasis on the Northeastern U.S. and Canadian markets. Since joining TIG Global in 2007, Mr. Silengo has been vital to TIG Global's sales operations through his ability to drive new sales and develop key customer partnerships.

Before joining TIG Global, Mr. Silengo operated in key sales management roles with Marriott International, with a strong focus on resort and city center conference and group sales. In his tenure with Marriott he represented hotels in New Orleans, Denver and Southeast Florida in numerous sales capacities.

In addition to his work experience, Mr. Silengo holds a Bachelors Degree from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA, and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Miami in Miami, FL.

Brian Simpson

As General Manager, Brian is responsible for managing Travelocity.ca's operations and public relations initiatives. Brian also works with travel suppliers to acquire more content and manage Travelocity Canada's relationships with key partners in the Canadian and international travel industry. He is based in Toronto.

Prior to joining Travelocity.ca, Brian held a variety of positions in the Canadian Division of Sabre Travel Network, including Training, Technical Sales Specialist and Account Executive. Most recently he held the position of Canadian Marketing Manager, where he was responsible for all Marketing and Public Relations activities, including spearheading initiatives to raise the profile of Sabre Travel Network and Sabre Connected travel agencies in Canada.

Brian began his career in the travel industry in 1986 at Wardair, in both the Reservations and Marketing departments, before joining Sabre in 1989.

Born in London, England, he has lived in the Toronto area for most of his life and enjoys travelling, public speaking and the arts.

In this sales position, Melinda strives to educate her clients on how to effectively target their messages, while both meeting regulatory compliance and getting the most attention.

She previously worked at The Canadian Press, Canada's National News Agency, advising public relations professionals on how to best get media pickup. Melinda is an experienced public speaker, with many years of both professional and theatrical performances. She is a graduate of Simon Fraser University in Mass Communications, and recently trained by Al Gore, former Vice President of the United States, to present "An Inconvenient Truth" through the Climate Project Canada.

Melinda is currently on the Board of Directors of The Media Foundation, a not for profit association to assist not for profits and a member of the International Association of Business Communicators.
